The J179 Handset features a bright color display, visual voicemail indicator, and enhanced dial by name directory in addition to standard calling features.

1. Beacon LED - Flashes when ringing and displays a solid red light when you have a voicemail
2. Line Keys - Each line key has a LED that displays alerts and is used to select the corresponding rows on the phone screen
3. Phone Key - Displays the phone screen
4. Voicemail - Used to access voicemail
5. Headset - Used to answer and hang up using a headset
6. Speaker - Used to answer and hang up using the speaker phone
7. Mute - Used to mute and unmute your audio during a call

1. Soft Keys - Access the options that appear on the screen above the soft key, such as "Redial" or "New Call"
2. Menu - Access the phone menu
3. Contacts - Access the contacts menu
4. Call Log - Access the recently missed calls, answered calls, and outgoing call history
5. Volume - Increase and decrease volume
