You are prompted to accept a certificate when connecting to the wireless network
Issue
When joining the secure wireless network on campus for the first time, or periodically, you are prompted to accept and trust a digital certificate for either stunps01.nesl.edu or chunps01.nesl.edu. You may expect to see this prompt again despite already being joined to the wireless network if the underlying certificate is reissued or renewed (typically once a year).
Cause
Logging into the secure wireless network with your nesl.edu credentials requires a session that is secured with a digital certificate. Though the certificates we use are publicly trusted, you are still prompted to accept and trust the certificate to protect against wifi network spoofing. Be sure the certificate you are trusting meets the following criteria:
- Is issued by Digicert.
- Is issued to either stunps01.nesl.edu or chunps01.nesl.edu.
- You are being prompted to accept and trust the certificate when on-campus.
Resolution
As long as the criteria above has been met, you should accept and trust the certificate. The process to do so when joining the secure wireless network varies by device. Below are instructions for the most common devices we see on our network (click to expand each one).
In the event that a certificate is renewed, you will likely be prompted to simply accept and trust the updated certificate the next time you reconnect.
